About Aubrey Holt

Aubrey Holt is a Conservative Councillor, Sustainability Expert, Political Activist, Charity Trustee, Active Community Campaigner and Director of the Conservative Mental Health Group.

Education

Aubrey was educated at state comprehensive schools, having initially left school at the age of sixteen to start a career as a carpenter. However, his decision to pursue an alternative career path led him back to academia, subsequently enrolling at the University of Exeter to pursue a BA degree in History and Politics. He was later awarded a scholarship to complete an MSc degree in Development Studies at the London School of Economics (LSE).

Career

As a sustainability expert, Aubrey has made significant contributions to both public and private entities in their quest to reduce their environmental footprint. This has included in his current role as a Sustainability Consultant, in which Aubrey plays a crucial role in assisting organizations in improving their environmental and social impact, enabling them to become agents of positive change. Through this work, Aubrey has refined his leadership style and adaptability, with these qualities being recognized when he was awarded a Rising Leaders Fellowship from the Aspen Institute in 2023.

Politics

Aubrey is the Founder and Director of the Conservative Mental Health Group, a group dedicated to supporting and promoting positive mental health action within the Conservative Party. Aubrey’s role includes guiding the organisation's growth and direction. Under Aubrey’s leadership the group has continued to thrive as it conducts research, supports its parliamentary patrons, and unites mental health advocates from across the party.

Aubrey serves as a Councillor for the Munden’s Ward on East Herts District Council. During the 2023 local elections, Aubrey’s persistent campaigning and community engagement was able to win one of the largest Conservative Majority within the councils Conservative Group.

Over the last seven years, Aubrey has continuously campaigned for conservative candidates across the country. From supporting conservatives seeking to protect our countryside in Cornwall, pushing against ULEZ in London, advocating for jobs in Yorkshire and campaigned for lower council tax in East Anglia, Aubrey has been willing to advocate for dedicated conservatives championing effective conservative policies right across the UK.

Community Work

Aubrey currently serves as a trustee for a housing charity that provides homes to financially disadvantaged individuals aged over sixty. As part of a small group of trustees, Aubrey assists in the management of twelve properties, including supporting the trusts daily operations, resident support, and future planning.

Aubrey continues to lead community groups within the areas he has resided. This has included spearheaded a highly successful campaign to plant 250 trees, enhancing the local green spaces and fostering community cooperation. Additionally, Aubrey initiated and chaired a campaign on 'Save Our Local Pub,' where he secured initial funding and assembled a dedicated team, allowing the community to work together in securing the future of the pub as a valuable community asset.

Aubrey is a voluntary member of Stansted Airport Consultancy Committee (STACC), representing environmental interests. In this voluntary role, Aubrey works with the airport in its continuation to fuel green action and investment.

Aubrey has previously volunteered as an election observer, monitoring elections across the UK for counts of electoral fraud and misconduct.

Aubrey has also previously served as a non-political Parish Councillor and deputy chairman, championing his community as he helps to promote and protect local interests.
